As the name implies, monorails provide a single pre-determined path, for the suspension
and transport of many types of lifting devices and loads.
VITAL MACHINES offer two types of monorail profiles. In addition to the commercially
available 'hot-rolled' sections, we also offer a lightweight enclosed profile for
lighter loads (< 1.5 tonne). Suspended from any one of these mediums are a choice
of quality electric, air, and vacuum lifting devices.
We are able to recommend to you robust equipment that lasts and lasts. We achieve
this by using serial manufactured equipment, from renowned European suppliers.
Our goal is to have you working on your productivity - not your plant.
Applications
Monorails are one of the most common and simple structural elements used in load
shifting applications. They can be a single straight 'run', or curved to almost
any shape to suit the workflow.
Most buildings have the capacity to support a small, light-weight monorail. Larger
monorails will normally require additional steelwork, to support the monorail and
load. In either case, an engineering review must be performed by a registered professional
engineer.
Monorails are cost-effective and generally easy to install. For operators, they
are 'user-friendly' and require a small amount of training to get started. Their
predetermined hook path is ideal for maintenance applications - like the lifting
of motors and pumps in fixed plant. They are also useful in process manufacturing,
where products navigate a progression in an assembly area.
They are functional with any number of lifting devices - whether they be chain blocks,
electric hoists, or vacuum lifting devices. Devices can also be paired, to produce
a stable platform for the lifting and shifting of long or sensitive items.
Technical
VITAL MACHINES provide two key solutions for monorail applications. With the use
of commercially available 'hot-rolled' sections we offer a full complement of girder
trolleys for all 'UB' and 'UC' parallel flanges. In addition, our trolley wheels
are profiled to suit any of the older tapered flange beams (TFB) that are common
in older workshops. The standard range starts at 250 kg, and extends to a large
5000 kg.
We also stock enclosed profiles from GIS and Wampfler. These sections are 'cold-rolled',
being manufactured to strict dimensional and quality standards. The profiles are
available in four section sizes and a multitude of standard lengths and off-cuts.
All sections, as well as their matching trolley and bridging sections, can be organised
into any number of workable configurations. The products are 'load-rated' and effectively
cover a range of point loads from 20 kg to 1500 kg.
The GIS and Wampfler profiles are designed for use with straight monorails as well
as monorails that include curved sections. Both manufacturers issue guide charts
that compare capacity and span. In addition, we have software that engineers complete
solutions. (Suspension from any proposed structure will require assessment by a
registered professional engineer. We are able to assist you in this area if requested).
Manual and electric switch-gates and turn-styles are serial manufactured, along
with a range of internal or external conductor-bar and catenary (festoon) system
trolleys. Powered drives are available for all our monorail products, along with
an extensive array of hoisting variants. We are happy to comment on your application
and recommend our 'best fit' approach.
