VITAL MACHINES provide a range of quality manufactured and industry-proven running
components for underslung travelling cranes. These components are carefully selected
and matched with the 'best-fit' hoisting device - to provide you with long-lasting,
trouble-free lifting.
Two types are crane systems are offered. Our range covers all loads to 5 tonnes,
with a light-weight 'KB' design, for loads under 1 tonne. With a variety of crane
components from quality manufacturers, and access to superior local manufacturers,
our crane solutions give you robust solutions that require virtually no maintenance.
Whether you seek individual components for your own concept, or wish to source a
turn-key solution, then we are definitely here to assist you!
Applications
Underslung cranes remain a class above standard monorails and jib cranes by their
ability to provide geometrical coverage of a given work area. Their cost effectiveness
rest on the capacity you demand, and the availability of suitable structural supports.
For workstations, many customers prefer to erect a purpose-built freestanding structure.
These structures eliminate the need to rely on the building for support and the
structures can be repositioned within a factory given any future need.
Whether freestanding or suspended from the building, underslung cranes are cost-effective
given their functionality. Matching a single crane to one or two workers guarantees
an excellent return-on-investment for most buyers in the manufacturing sector. In
heavy workshops, all the crane motions can be motorised - letting the operator concentrate
on safety.
For smaller loads, we recommend the use of light-weight crane systems. These designs
provide user-friendly load lifting and shifting - whether it be in a workshop, process
area, or laboratory. Light weight designs, like GIS 'KB' track profiles, permit
manual load shifting. This is achieved due to the special enclosed design of the
track profile and matching running gear. Coupled with a GIS electric chain hoist,
operators are able to work independently, swiftly and safely.
Technical
Our light weight cranes systems start at a low 30kg and currently extend to 1 tonne.
They utilise the track profiles from GIS and Wampfler, for superior quality and
component longevity. These designs permit manual push/pull travel of the bridge
and hoist trolley, with minimal operator effort. For areas where the process demands
powered travel, we then offer a variable speed 'tug' that readily connects to the
bridge or runway trolleys.
A range of hoisting gear is available for suspension from the load trolley on the
bridge. This includes any size-matched GIS electric chain hoist, as well as spring
balancers, air hoists and manual hoisting gear (recommended for maintenance applications
only).
For loads under 250kg we recommend the use of the GIS 'GCHHK' Chain Handy hoist.
This unit has its control buttons at the hook handset, giving the operator a free
hand for greater control of the task being performed. These light-weight profiles
are limited in capacity and where the runway and bridge spans exceed 6 or 8 metres
they may require additional support or self-stiffening. In addition, GIS provide
us with software that contains selection criteria and pricing information. This
service is offered to you free-of-charge.
For crane designs between 1 tonne and 5 tonnes, we normally offer runways and bridge
members from commercially available hot-rolled sections. This permits use of standard
girder trolleys, normally motorised for ease of use.
Our underslung cranes can be as short as a few metres, up to our recommended maximum
span of 18 metres. We recommend the use of dual speed drives in all directions,
due to their low-cost and safe approach speeds. Radio controls can be offered on
any crane system and supplied with a back-up pendant if warranted.
